Impact On and Off the Course

Our mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

The values of integrity and sportsmanship are not always instilled in today’s youth. The acquisition of values is often a by-product of a series of complex processes that evolve from individuals’ experiences. First Tee Life Skills Experience teaches participants a set of skills that allow them to face challenges at home, school and play in a constructive manner. The goal is for participants to internalize our key commitments, which are at the heart of First Tee’s mission.

Research shows that youth who participate in First Tee Life Skills Experience learn valuable life lessons, exhibit the key commitments and transfer these skills and qualities to school, home, and other settings.

With all of the great golf facilities in the Triangle, we will look back a generation from now and realize that this project was the most important one.

Center For Youth Development

For over 15 years, we have relied on the generosity of local golf facilities to provide space and access for program delivery. Additionally, we have also collaborated with other youth agencies and, most recently, the Wake County Public School System to deliver programs to captive audiences of participants. The vision for this project has allowed us to set aggressive goals to better serve our kids and families. With the support of our community, we will be able to bring the game and its inherent values to more kids and particularly those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to be involved in a program like ours. Thanks to our founding investors and the generosity of world- renowned golf course architect Gil Hanse, we are now poised to deliver on this once in a generation opportunity for our community!

Key Project Outcomes:

  • Increase participant enrollment and student retention rates
  • Create a safe haven and quality mentorship for the kids we serve
  • Provide programming to the children in our community who need it the most
